1st XI defeat Bolton 1s in Saturday League

3 wins in a row on a Saturday

Lancaster headed in to the game with a significant proportion of the team away. However, contrary to previously a newfound strength in depth created by an incredibly large fresher intake meant that those called up were more than up to the challenge. With only 1 starting XI defender there was some concern about how a makeshift defence would cope. However with Bushby and Mr. Henderson slotting into the left and right back positions and utility player Dylscoop back in central defence, a punishment after getting megsed last Wednesday, there was certainly enough talent on show at the back.

The first half was a reasonably quiet affair with only 2 goals scored, both in favour of lancaster. However this doesn't reflect the fact that the boys were camped in the opposing territory for about three quarters of the half. A combination of dominance by the midfield over their counterparts and a strong pressing performance from the forwards left one way out for Bolton. The first goal came unbelievably from Bushby as he went on an adventure into the right side of the D and capitalised on a rebound from a Dynamo deflection lifting it past the stranded goalkeeper. Although chances were created the mass of men behind the ball from Bolton left little room for manoeuvring in the D. This was until Rory showed his calmness on the ball finding Dynamo on the baseline before the Saturday specialist continued his run into space into the D, gladly receiving the ball back from Dynamo and calmly placing the ball into the top of the net. Although bagging two assists already, Dynamo secured his dick of the day status when Jack produced some wizardry at the top of the D and absolutely smashed a reverse stick towards the far post about waist high. Dynamo saw this piece of wizardry as an afront to his place as top scorer and refused to allow someone to score a goal so freely. Therefore he put his stick out at back post hoping to make sure the ball was actually going in the net with a lovely deflection. Instead, as his hand eye co-ordination is superhuman he connected so well with the deflection that the ball slid out of play past the other post.

Going in at halftime the boys were confident of more but slightly disappointed to only have scored 2 goals. However, having resolved to stamp their mark on the game at the start of the second half they came out flying and were rewarded when Jack rounded another man at top D and slotted home a vicious hit into the bottom corner. Berty then decided that he wasn't happy with Jack taking all the glory and did exactly the same, only this time slotting it top bins just to spite Jack. With the game sealed at 4-0 the became much more open and Jack slotted home again from top D, a feat which if he keeps repeating will surely worry Dynamo for top scorer. This was shortly followed by a Bin goal as he poked home from close range. The final goal came from Dynamo as a Lancaster short corner duped the stick stopper and rolled to Rory at backstop who calmly slapped to back post where Dynamo deflected in to finally get himself on the scoresheet after multiple opportunities. Pete put in a strong performance to try and claim dick of the day by doing just about everything possible on the pitch except scoring. With about 4 close range chances squandered it seems that Pete's dream of achieving his first LUMHC goal will have to wait until next match. Better luck next time mate.

LUMHC 1st XI 7-0 Bolton 1s
Jack (2), Rory, Berty, Bin, Dynamo and Bushby.

MOTM: Bushby. Good goal and solid attacking play down the right and mainly because people want to see him get drunk because they're bored of talking to him sober.
DOTD: Dynamo. Although he maintains it was going wide cos he's stubborn
