After an encouraging start to Lent Term on the hockey pitch, the boys experienced the first real week of failure this academic year. The 1st XI agonisingly dropped out of the cup on penalty flicks, before losing 8-3 to promotion rivals Rochdale on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Pride endured their own disappointment as they lost in a friendly to Liverpool John Moore
Wednesday's match reports
Socials do not disappoint
Despite a rocky week on the pitch, the hockey social scene did not disappoint. After a strong bus back from Liverpool, the 1s joined the usual crew downstairs in Bentley's for a typically large social. The introduction of the fruit game and a social-wide game of 5s sparked mayhem, with only a few surviving such a ruthless test. Whilst socials have been derided as outdated in the past, LUMHC proved once again that they can adapt to the times, with another brand spanking new game, where competitors have to channel their inner Roger Federer, to accompany the other favourites that have been introduced so far this year.
After a difficult week and a stressful beginning to the term, the boys thought it best to have a quiet social on Saturday, with everyone enjoying each other's company whilst consuming the contents of a crate. Whilst the boys were having a nice, quiet Saturday night in, unfortunately the hooligans from Fylde Football struck once again. Somehow hearing about the whereabouts of social, the yobs descended upon Dryllan's flat, before using kitchen roll that didn't belong to them and playing cricket with Dryllan's pots and pans. May their heads be struck from their shoulders. Bellend was so Cross from such an incident spoiling his quite Saturday night, all he could think about was Mi, mi, mi. |
Shoutout of the week
We are very pleased to announce that our partner society, the Wine Society, have made an impressive start to university life. Helped by strong attendance from LUMHC members, their first two socials have been a roaring success. We're certain they've got much more planned in the future, so make sure to check out their Facebook page if you haven't already.
Meanwhile, we are also pleased to announce a partnership with Lancaster University Meme Society. Unlike the poor and unoriginal content that comes from fierce rivals Memecaster University, our partner society will be able to satisfy your edgy meme needs. Drop a like on their Facebook page to keep up with all of the latest edgeposting.

The Week Ahead
The 1st and 3rd XI both have a chance to get back to winning ways with eminently winnable fixtures. With no fixture this week yet again, the 2nd XI will be down at the Lancaster (Bailrigg) Sports Multiplex cheering on the LUHC family, with some crunch games for LUWHC as well. Wednesday evening then sees all of the usual suspects joined by Pete Mansfield for School Social with the women's club.
