After a disappointing week last week, where the 1st and 3rd XI both lost to John Moore, the boys bounce back in emphatic fashion. The 3rd XI secured the league title (more on that below) with a game to spare. Meanwhile, the 1st XI had a very successful week, smashing 20 past Man Met before beating Kendal 5-2 on Saturday.
Wednesday's match reports
3rd XI secure Tier 5 title
A magnificent season was confirmed for the 3rd XI on Wednesday, as their victory in the local derby over UCLan confirmed that they secured the BUCS Tier 5 - Manchester and Lancashire title. Considering that last season the 3rd XI were playing division 6A, the boys were expected to struggle this season, as finding themselves in Tier 5 was equivalent to promotion. However, with a backbone in the squad of experienced veterans like Dangerous FunJ, Kernkroft, Tom Taylor and of course captain Jolly, combined with exciting fresher talent, the 3rd XI have taken the division by storm, winning the title with a game to spare.
Whilst the Pride have secured the Tier 5 title, if they want to be promoted to Division 4A then they will need to defeat Liverpool John Moore 2nd XI, the winners of the other Tier 5 division, in an all-or-nothing one-off playoff game. If promotion can be secured, alongside a win at Roses, it will by far and away be the most successful season for the 3rd XI, certainly in living memory, if not ever.

Website falling into shape
A long-time plan of Propaganda Minister Haggis and vice-Propaganda Minister Kernkroft came to fruition last week, as finally all of the current LUMHC squad were papped for the website. Taking a lot of organisation to get the infamously disorganised LUMHC bunch all to turn up at some point together, the fruits of their labour can be seen in the quality of the pictures below. The photos will be used for the Meet The Squad section of the website, whilst Anders' photo will be passed on to the appropriate authorities, merely as a precautionary measure. You can view the full album on our Facebook page.
School social highlight of another packed week
After a successful Wednesday of hockeying, and with the prospect of being able to talk to girls before 9pm, everyone was extremely excited for school social, with even Pete Mansfield tearing himself away from a mock UN debate to chirpse his way into the hearts and minds of LUWHC (don't be silly). Having just won the league and completed the Preston Challenge, a number of the 3rd XI were a bit worse for wear, leading to a rather autocratic style of headteaching from Bellend, with a number of attempted mutinies quickly extinguished, and a rebellion by the Jolly Roger defeated in a battle of speed. Reacting quite Cross to any attempted disruptive behaviour, foreshadowing what would come later in the week, Bellend decided to change his approach, taking a more gentle angle, making each of the offenders a hand-made breakfast with egg and chia seeds in the shape of a love heart, hoping that the offenders would see how they had wronged. With wounds healed and order restored, the usual games and inter-club bonding continued unabated, before the lads and lasses headed to Sugar for the usual cesspit of so-called music that is Whoops Wednesday.

Partner society of the week
Having mentioned our partnerships with the Wine and Meme societies earlier in the term, we are pleased to announce a brand new partnership, with the German Society. Having only formed this term, the Jungs have a number of fresh and innovative ideas for socials, and anybody can get involved, as no knowledge of the German language is necessary. Their first social is happening this Thursday and is a bar crawl from 8pm, starting in Trevor bar, with any kind of German-themed attire welcome. You can find out more on the Facebook event.
The Week Ahead
Another big week for the club. The 2nd XI can secure the 4A title with a win over Salford away on Wednesday. Back in Lancaster, the prodigal son Cletus returns, pairing up with brother Dennis Knight as they play for Bolton 1st XI against the Pride. Wednesday night then sees the ever-popular Gallon Challenge, before a big day in the club's history on Saturday, as next year's Exec is decided during Hustings.
