Not just the best at Hockey
The hockey season ends with the Roses competition in late April, early May. After weeks of tough training leading up to Roses, everyone needs a bit of a break from hockey. It is a transition period for the club, as exams are completed and reigns handed over (from one chairman/captain/secretary to his successor). It also means that there is time available for LUMHC to show the rest of Lancaster Sport how to play their own sport.
In recent years, the focus has been heavily on LUMHCFC. Except 2020 because nothing happened after easter rip. In 2017, a large number of football fans within the club meant that the football arm of the LUMHC conglomerate flourished. One training session a week was dedicated to football, as anyone could turn up and enjoy a casual game of Heads and Vols, whilst a relaxed hockey session carried on during the other session of the week. Of course the LUMHCFC boys won the battle on the fashion front as well as on the pitch.
Whilst cricket has been neglected recently, this does not mean the imminent extinction of LUMHCCC. Particularly with the addition of aussie heartthrob Gabe, who's love for the sport knows no boundaries. Whilst cricket is harder to organise due to the kit that is needed for it, nothing can stop LUMHC from having a good hit around if we want it.
With a distinct lack of literally anything happening after EOSD in the 2019/20 season, there is bound to be extra attention and attendance to all LUMHC related activities, and LUMHCFC and LUMHCCC should flourish. Despite the distinct lack of 6'4 hockey players available, if the crowds of fans demand it, could a basketball team arise? I very much hope so.
