The club bounced back to winning ways on Wednesday, with the 1st XI defeating Bangor 9-0. Meanwhile, backed by a travelling hoarde of ultras, the 2nd XI beat Liverpool 5-1 to maintain their 100% start to the league campaign. The 1st XI then beat Bolton 9-1 on Saturday to extend their winning run to 8 games.
Haggis' 2nd XI match report
Fan club of the week
Whilst it may have appeared that a 3rd XI/Dev Squad ultra group were travelling away to Liverpool to support the 2nd XI, the LUMHC Laurie Fan Club were actually in Liverpool to cheer on Chester Women's Hockey player and LUMHC legend Laurie. In recent years, the Laurie fan club have been able to rid themselves of the reputation of violence and hooliganism that has haunted them previously, and are now able to concentrate on what they do best; supporting Laurie #YNWA
On a similar yet unrelated note, somebody once told me that Maisie's match report from the Dev Squad's first ever game is now available for perusal.

Christmas Dinner
LUMHC descended upon Greaves Park to partake in the annual ritual that is Christmas Dinner. The evening started in a children's playground, with Chairman Wow thinking it best that Draco was able to act his mental age before the formal occassion actually started. Buoyed by two wins earlier in the day, spirits were high as the occassion started with a lovely entrée of soup, which the freshers finished off with great aplomb. At this point, it was great that some non-hockey members were able to make, with social member Nancy from Morecambe joining in the festivities on Table 2. A main course of turkey was wolfed down soon after, with a medley of vegetables on the side providing the perfect foil to this most succulent of birds. Light entertainment was provided before the deserts with Secret Santa being the chosen game. Gaston wasn't particularly happy with his gift, Chris' heart melted when he saw what he had been bought, whilst Gus provided Hopeless with possibly the best Secret Santa gift ever (bottom left). What a guy.
Desserts were soon polished off and unfortunately it was time to go home. Alvin embarassed himself with some rather drunken behaviour, not in keeping with the rest of the night, as he was felled by a stationary mannequin as he exited the building. Trusty Treasurer Rango had a quiet word with women's social sec Lavs after a most unsavoury of cutlery incidents. All in all, a lovely evening as everyone quietly made their way home, with Bowyer and Rango making a line towards Tesco's car park, whilst Bushy preferred a late night stop off at Booths.

The rest of the week wasn't bad either
BugzyTuesday saw a nice quiet trip to Hustle for Bellend on his own to meet Father Christmas, and prepare himself for the trip to Liverpool that would follow the day after.
Saturday then saw the ever-popular social that is Christmas nativity. There was an admittedly poor turnout from everyone who hadn't done the nativity before, although Week 10 deadlines must also be to blame for this. Nevertheless a fun time was had by all, with Chairman Wow once again pulling out all of the stops to try and secure the chirpse that he started last week. |
The Week Ahead
No games on Wednesday for the boys, meaning that everyone can focus on getting work out of the way and coming to the final social for a month on Wednesday. A very successful term is then rounded off with a Christmas-themed mixed tournament with LUWHC on Thursday.
