Case study - T-bone Ted
Meet Ted. A year ago, T-bone Ted was a silly, silly, little freshling like you. After a summer of interrailing, Ted found out that he had made it to Lancaster Uni. Heralding from Norwich, T-bone had so many questions in his head as he packed his bags and headed up the M6 to the promised land: will I be able to understand Northern people with their funny accents? Will there be a sports society where I can enjoy training sessions and the benefits that being a LUSU Focus club brings? Will there be somewhere at uni where I can take part in BUCS competition, the biggest varsity competition in Europe and the most raucous socials that Lancaster Uni has to offer? Fortunately for Ted, LUMHC was there for him.
Guiding him through the possible pitfalls of his first year at uni, T-bone was transformed from a silly little fresher into a mature, young man. Enjoying training sessions on a Monday and Thursday, as well as BUCS games on a Wednesday, Ted improved vastly under the tutelage of fully qualified coaches Nick and Dan. T-bone was instantly made to feel welcome by the club, becoming an integral part of Wednesday night socials. Personal highlights of the year included Christmas dinner with the rest of the 2nd XI squad, Fall of Rome social and waking up in Morecambe at 2am after falling asleep on the 2A after social. Observe the diagram below to see how much of a transformation Ted has made!
And the best news is, you can enjoy a transformation like T-bone! All that you have to do is come along to LUMHC trials on Friday and Sunday of Freshers Week, from 4-6pm. If you have any queries about the cost of this transformation, would like to hear more stories like Ted's, or just want someone to talk to when you get lonely at night, contact us via our social media platforms or email Club Chairman Bellend on c.morrison@lancaster.ac.uk.
