The heartbeat of the club
Whilst playing hockey is fun, celebrating a win with your mates is even better. Whether after a home game, an away day or a training session, Wednesday nights aren't complete without an LUMHC social, and the week hasn't been properly rounded off if you don't attend social on Saturday either. As a club we pride ourselves on the quality of our socials, with a mix of traditional and inventive socials
Socials are our way of bringing the club community together outside of matches and training, as nothing is more important to us than making people feel welcome and involved (especially Freshers!)
Wednesday socials have returned to our very own Zion, Dalton Rooms. Social starts at 7.30pm sharp, and woe betide anybody (freshling or fifth year) who arrives late! A traditional style social sees a variety of games played, and you'll soon be made to feel welcome in the club. Particularly later in the year, alternative venues for Wednesday socials may be found, and campus bar crawls or similar such events have proved popular in the past.
Now and again we'll delve into the uncertainty of themed social, as the traditional formula is given an inventive twist. These socials include club classics such as Fall of Rome, Family and School social, the last two of which contain interaction with the other half of LUHC, LUWHC (ooh girls!).
New this year will be the introduction of a greater variety of socials under the reforms of Chairman Berto and Vice-Chair Baguetti, including the mysterious sober social. We are aware of how important it is to involve people in the club, so it is only appropriate to offer ways of club bonding for everyone to get involved in regardless of their approach to alcohol. Examples will include team meals and much more is planned

Become a social member
If playing hockey isn't your thing, you can still be part of the club and become a social member. Everyone has respect for the fact that you realize Lancaster nightlife isn't any good without an LUMHC social. If you would like to become a social member, contact us via social media (link in the footer) and we'll get you down to Dalton's in no time at all. Social membership has been £5 in the past, although this may be subject to change.
Saturday socials offer a more relaxed vibe to a Wednesday social. Taking place at the abode of an LUHC member, a theme to the social is more likely, and a more tightly-knit social can be expected. Club classics for this genre include Lambrini, Nativity and Bin social. You never know what will happen on a Saturday social; you might end up in Sugar or more likely at home with Crash on your sofa (Edit: at Crash's home on his sofa - Berto).
Team socials can also be expected throughout the year, in order to help bond the teams, whether it be whilst having a few friendly drinks watching Hot Fuzz together or showing Hustle how to strawpedo on a Monday night (RIP Hustle). End of Season dinner is another social event not to be missed as the club rounds off the BUCS season in celebratory style, with a 3 course meal at a plush restaurant/hotel somewhere in the surrounding area.
