A bit of a slow start to the term if we are honest with ourselves. With coursework and dissertation deadlines as well as assessments in the first week back, we haven't really hit top gear yet. On the pitch, the 1st XI experienced a disappointing loss against Bury, before bouncing back with a 6-0 win on Saturday. However, with tests and all of those mince pies shifted from the system, we're once again ready to hit the heights of first term.

LUMHC hitting the big time
Publicity Officer Haggis has been busy over the Christmas break, trying to get LUMHC the publicity that our great start to the season merits. And, fortunately for us, national newspaper 'The Hockey Paper' were only kind enough to oblige! The LUMHC boys are one of 5 clubs highlighted by the weekly paper who have seen a marked increase in membership in recent times, particularly driven by the success of the GB women's team in Rio. Unfortunately, no digital copy of the article exists, but a snapshot of the article can be seen below. Nevertheless, we would encourage all readers to go and buy 'The Hockey Paper', especially if you've never read it before, as there is some great quality content, all for £1.50.
The boys are back in town
Normal service resumedWhilst the term has perhaps had a bit of a slow start on the hockeying front, the social scene has taken off from where it left off last term. A few hockey boys gathered last Saturday for an impromptu get-together, wanting to see each other again after such a long time away.
Wednesday then saw the return of crowd favourite Cletus, who brought his star power to proceedings as always. A return of the fruit game saw Haggis on his back by 9pm, whilst there were strong showings from 1st XI freshers Sesh, Phil and 2Chainz. New favourite 'The Light Game' also returned to social, proving that LUMHC socials can mix the old with the new. 2Chainz then managed to continue his fine form on Saturday after a MOTM bottle of wine, pulling out all the stops at Saturday social. Hadyn unfortunately wasn't able to make Saturday social after an exhausting Friday evening. |
The Week Ahead
The 3rd XI will be getting the club's BUCS campaign off and running again with a trip to Bolton on Wednesday. The 1st XI will be looking to continue their charge up the Saturday League table when South Lakes come to visit next weekend. If you are free on Wednesday, LUWHC have two games on at home, so make sure to get down and support them!
